General Divination Archetypes

Archetypes

Most divination symbols are just archetypes from the unconscious mind. There is a general meaning but specifics will come from you; the carrier vessel. This list is a guideline of some general archetypes that are used in divination. They can be used to help you loosly grasp the meaning of your divinations from scrying of all types, for trying to understand your dreams and you will even be able to see many of them (or symbols of them) within the artwork of your Tarot Cards. Just remember that you hold the answers and this is just a guide for you!!!

There are more archetypes out there; I’m sure, but for most purposes this is enough. It is listed alphabetically for ease of use so don’t try to memorize the meanings on the list. 1. Great list! Understanding symbolism is essential to tapping into your intuition. Sometimes people get caught there though. Sort of like dream dictionaries. You have to look at traditional symbols as a guide… but ultimately explore what it means to you. What types of divination do you use?

    • I usually use the Tarot cards and dowse with a pendulum because I saw that done some many times when I was young. My dad is a dowser for water and my brother for electrical wiring. I thought it may be time to expand my horizons so I have been working with a scrying mirror of late. You should pick one of your posts about reading tea leaves and give us a link for it here.

  2. What a wonderful experience to grow up with a water dowser. I remember my mom talking about my great grandma dowsing for water. I love mirror scrying. I actually like to use a dark bowl or water… or even a tea cup with some nice black tea ;-) ….Let me pick a post and put the link below. :-)
