The night cold with a sky so clear, I am just staring at the stars,
As I sit quietly in the field where I come to be alone.
Out away from people and houses and lights and cars.
No TV to hold my attention, no running to answer the phone.
I can sit here with my thoughts and prayers,
The dreams of what I would like the world to be.
And the only one there who is listening or cares,
Is the Moon Lady shining brightly down on me.
We speak of the injustices done by all man in the name of the self.
The wrong treatment of the world’s creatures and plants.
The way that feelings have been tossed on the shelf.
Of how things should be done for others; for this is my chance to rant.
The Moon Lady listens to me quietly and completely
As I bask there in her glowing light.
She asks me why I talk of others beginning to fix the world
When it is I who must start the fight.
I leave this place of peaceful solitude before the sun is born,
Remembering the words of the Great Moon Mother.
The only one that can change things in this world
Is me when I start to help my brother.
