Last one in the Series before mixing recipes. I have some of these herbs listed in the Herbalism Category and will probably have the rest listed soon as well but these are the most often used for Aromatherapy.

Some Warnings

There are some contraindications to mention here before I go in depth on some of the essential oils. These are warning points that you should always keep in mind when mixing the oils for yourself or anyone else.

  • ALLERGY: First make certain that you check all oils for any allergic reactions. After mixing the essential oil with the carrier oil, put a drop on the inside of the elbow. Wait for a few minutes then check for any sign of redness, swelling, itching or any other type of reaction. If any change is noticed, do not use that oil.
  • PREGNANCY: During pregnancy you should avoid using basil, cedarwood, clary sage, juniper berry, marjoram, myrrh…

Sorry, I’ve been away for a bit, I hadn’t been feeling too well so I took a couple of weeks off from the computer. I’m back now so I plan to post the rest of the aromatherapy series this weekend. I also hope to post some oil mixes that can be used for some typical complaints of the head. I will be posting that on Summer Goddess Kitchen Witchery but will post a link to the post here when I finish.

Storage of Essential Oils

In the beginning; it is wise to purchase your essential oils in small quantities. As you go along, you will begin to identify the oils that you will need to buy…

Aromatherapy Oils

Carrier Oils

Message oils are designed to soothe, stimulate, heal and beautify. The method of application brings about a state of deep relaxation while the essential oils give a sense of well-being through inhalation. Some of the other methods of application are by adding them to bath water, inhalation of them in a steam bowl and using them on a diffuser during meditation.

Before using; the concentrated essential oils need to be mixed with a carrier oil, they are too strong to come in contact with the skin without causing a reaction. It is imperative that the carrier oil be pure, high quality, cold-pressed vegetable oils. The oils should be unrefined oils and mineral…

Massage

Broken down; aromatherapy is therapy (massage) done with aroma (essential oils). As I said, I can not make this a comprehensive course on message techniques for obvious reasons. I can; however, explain why it is necessary to understand and to be minimally able to perform these techniques. Hopefully, I can do this without using the entire “Anatomy” text book.

Our skin is one large sensory organ…the largest in or on the body. All of our skin contains nerve endings so that we can feel stimuli that we come in contact with. When we are tense from stress, those nerves are set in motion and begin to send signals to the brain. Our brain wants us…

Sheila's Space My Place to Shine...Or Not

As unexpected as it was; my aromatherapy post ended up being approximately 20 pages with the recipes that I have. Ouch…little wonder it took me a month to get it done and that it is now going to be a series of posts. I am going to post it on Sheila’s Space because I already have the health and wellness category there. I will be reblogging each one of the posts to my other blog sites so that everyone can find it all. The recipes will be on Summer Goddess Kitchen Witchery but I will also be reblogging those too. I hope this is less confusing for all of you than it will be for me to add all the hyperlinks for you. If you want to make certain you are notified of each post, make sure you are following all of my blogs.

I will probably be entitling them…
